Congratulations! You made to the other side of the Earth! So... now what? Find something to do! Today I'll be featuring a list of ten things to do as a solo traveler when you're on the other side of the globe. This may become fifteen things, as ideas in my head later than I want them to. ;P
1. Go to a Dia de los Muertos or Mardi Gras celebration.
2. Learn to read a language with different text, such as Japanese or Korean.
3. Become an exchange student in a desired country for a short period of time(or an entire semester). Find a program or go homestay.
4. Start with a blank notebook. Personalize the cover. Write about your travels, and when the notebook is full, do it again.
5. Travel the world teaching one-day workshops/courses on things such as sketching, HTML coding, journalism, knitting/crocheting, etc.
6. Get a pen-pal or e-pal. I recommend the site Students of the World(studentsoftheworld.info).
7. Go to a cultural restaurant or cafe, even if you're not in another country. Write about the food, the service, and the experience. My first picks would be a Mexican cuisine restaurant or a Hawaiian beach bar, pictured below.
8. Volunteer for a cause you care about in another country. Help build a well in Africa or rescue baby sea turtles on the beaches of South America.
9. Make a scrapbook based on your travels. This can also be infused with number four on the list.
10. Take a type of transportation you wouldn't normally take.
Well, that's pretty much it. I hope you'll enjoy trying these ideas(I haven't even had the chance to!)
Chao for now,
Léa(:
