Hi there! Today I decided to post something about food, because what's traveling without all the cultural food? Arepas are South American corn cakes, and they are DELICIOUS. As a matter of fact, I made them for dinner last night. I actually got this recipe from my Spanish teacher, Acacia. If the image above isn't popping up, here is the recipe.
Lolita's Recipe Cards: Arepas
Serves: 4 people(2 arepas per person)
Prep time: 10 minutes
Total time: 25-30 minutes
Ingredients
• 2 cups cornmeal
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 3 cups water
• Shredded mozzarella cheese(optional)
• Sunflower oil for grilling
Procedure
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cornmeal, water, and salt until it forms into a dough. Then knead the dough into small patties. Pour a small amount of sunflower oil onto a skillet or frying pan. Cook the arepas on medium. Flip them over after two minutes and repeat. Optional: you can melt shredded mozzarella cheese on your arepa. Enjoy!
